Lately Ladybug has been very into painting, glitter, crayons and anything art-related. She received an easel from Dopdee (grandma) for Christmas and we have used it every day, multiple times each day since she opened it. Today we tried finger paints for the first time and she absolutely loved it. I found a super simple recipe over on Easy Peasy with ingredients I had on hand in my kitchen.
Inexpensive, easy and all-natural is my kind of recipe! Using our all-natural India Tree food coloring we created five beautiful paint colors and she had a hey day! Such a simple activity and perfect for these bitterly cold winter days. Give it a try if you are looking for a fun and easy new art activity.

Naming the blog
It took me awhile to convince myself that naming my blog "Life in Mom Jeans" wouldn't drive away every mom in the world. I know most moms wouldn't be caught dead in the high-waisted, high back pocket, non-form fitting duds that come to most of our minds when we think of "mom jeans" and I fall squarely into that category. Even though I am no longer heading to an office on a daily basis, I still try to look presentable and somewhat fashionable so as not to scare my husband and sweet daughter away.
I have to admit that I haven't spent hours on the treadmill or starved myself silly since my daughter was born attempting to return to my pre-baby body. I realize that my body was forever changed by pregnancy and I completely accept it. That being said I still fit into 95% of my pre-pregnancy clothes and I still wear most of them. The 5% of the clothes that don't fit comfortably now are mostly jeans so I broke down and ordered a few new pairs after Ladybug was born. One pair are dark wash skinny jeans and they are my go-to when trying to look fancy (paired with a cute top and heels) while still staying comfortable. The only problem with them is they stretch like crazy after I've worn them only a few hours.
So one day I'm heading out with my husband, I don't even remember today where we were going, but I threw on my "fancy" skinny jeans with a cute top and boots, the go-to outfit. We were just about to head out the door and my husband says to me "wait, babe...are those your mom jeans?" completely innocently. I stopped dead in my tracks and asked him what in the world he was talking about ... these are my sexy I'vestillgotitevenafterhavingababyjeans ... (right??)! Then he says "there is chocolate all over the back of your leg and the butt is stretched out." Surprise, surprise - food smeared on my clothes is the story of my life! After that day I decided maybe mom jeans weren't so bad afterall. In fact, most of my clothes would properly be classified as mom clothes as they are constantly covered with paint, chocolate, honey, stickers and various unknown substances on a daily basis. Mom jeans are proof we are having fun, getting dirty, and enjoying time with our precious littles on a daily basis. What could be better than that?
